The Czech manufacturer came in a situation that could not meet the increased demand for customers only with its own factory facilities, and it would have to hire some other companies to compile Škoda models.
In Škoda it is expected that, thanks to the expansion of the offers of its models, the Kodiak and Karoq SUVs, as well as the Kamiq model for the Chinese market, will increase annual production from the present 1.2 million to 2 million cars by 2025.
However, Škoda already has a problem to quickly deliver custom-made cars, as production has reached the maximum capacity of their factories.
One of the options is to continue car production in other automotive companies within the Volkswagen Group, whose capacities are not sufficiently utilized, but the Czech company believes that this will not solve the problem in the long run.
That’s why Škoda is looking for other alternatives, and one of them would be the assembly of a production contract with another automotive company outside the Volkswagen Group.
The Czechs admit that already in 2018, the global demand for Škoda cars exceeds the capacities of all the plants of this company, so it will be necessary to find a solution as soon as possible.
For now it has been announced that the Karoq will begin to be manufactured outside the borders of the Czech Republic at the Volkswagen plant in Osnabrück.
Otherwise, according to the latest data, Škoda became the second most profitable automotive brand within the Volkswagen Group, after Porsche, and ahead of the current Audi Audi.
