The pain and swelling of any part of the foot can prevent you from performing basic daily activities, but can also cause a number of health problems.
Swelling around the ankles can occur for a variety of reasons, but is usually due to fatigue, long-standing, wearing tight shoes and/or high heels, warm weather, and a combination of these factors.
There are many ways to get rid of pain and swelling in your feet.
One of these is lifting and resting your feet, but as physiotherapist Dr. Joe explains, it works best if your legs are raised above the heart while you are in the lying position.
It also recommends cold compresses, no longer than 10-15 minutes, in place of swelling while resting.
